Peace Corps

I served with the Peace Corps in Ethiopia from 1997–1999. Although they are part of the US government, they are not under the direct control of the US Embassy in the host country. Peace Corps programs are in direct response to host country government requests. It was really the "toughest job..."

One of the most respected and, in my opinion, respectable humanitarian organizations on the planet. Apparently others (like the American Institute of Philanthropy) think highly of MSF as well, as they were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.

Cited in the New York Times as one of the few sources of tax reform projections, Citizens for Tax Justice is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and advocacy organization dedicated to fair taxation at the federal, state, and local levels.

Working Assets

When living in the U.S., I have Working Assets long-distance service at my house. Working Assets donates 1% of its profits to social causes (you can see a list on their site). Working Assets also includes information on publications and ways to get active about change in its bills.
